Apple and Pear Crumble

Ingredients

 
2 apples, peeled, cored and diced (about 5 cm)
2 pears, peeled, cored and diced (about 5 cm)
25g butter
25g sugar
1 tsp vanilla paste
300g soft oats
300g plain flour
100g raw brown sugar
250g butter, cut into 5 cm cubes and at room temperature.
 

Method

 
Place the apples, pears, 25g butter, vanilla paste and 25g of sugar into a large pan with a lid and cook for 5-10 minutes, just to melt the butter and sugar together and soften the fruit.
 
Once softened place the fruit (plus any juice in the pan) into an oven proof dish.
 
Rub the flour, oats, sugar and butter together to form the crumble (use your finger tips and mix until a sandy texture is achieved.)
 
Lightly sprinkle the crumble mix over the top of the fruit (do not pack down)
 
Bake at 190oC for 10-15 minutes until the top is crisped up and lightly golden.
