Chilli-Con-Carne

Ingredients

 
500g minced beef
800g chuck steak, cut to 5 cm chunks
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground oregano
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried chilli
150g baby button mushrooms
1 Spanish onion, chopped
½ red capsicum, roughly chopped
1 clove of garlic, roughly chopped
1 tbsp Worcester sauce
50 ml balsamic vinegar
2 tins chopped tomatoes
1 ½ litre of water
¼ bunch of fresh basil, roughly chopped.
Splash of olive oil
 

Method

 
In a large pan heat a splash of olive oil then add the minced beef and fry until half cooked, then add the button mushrooms, nutmeg, paprika, oregano and chilli flakes and cook until the mince is all browned off.
 
Tumble in the onions, capsicums, garlic, Worcester and balsamic vinegar and allow the sauce to boil.
 
Season with salt and pepper then add the chuck steak, basil, tomatoes and water.
 
Bring to a boil with a lid on then simmer for 1 ½ hours without a lid
