Ingredients

 
400g self raising flour
2 tbsp caster sugar
2 tbsp bicarb soda
50g melted butter
250 ml milk
 

Method

 
In a large bowl combine all ingredients by hand, until just together, do not overwork as it can toughen.
 
Place onto a floured bench, press down slightly until about 4 cm thick and cut with a 7 cm cutter.
 
Baste with milk and bake at 180oC for about 25-30 minutes.
 
Allow to cool slightly before serving with jam and cream.
